Rakugo (落語, literally "fallen words") is a form of Japanese verbal entertainment. The lone storyteller sits on stage, called Kōza, using only a paper fan (扇子 sensu) and a small cloth (手拭 tenugui) as props. Without standing up from the seiza sitting position, the Rakugo artist depicts a long and complicated comical story.
Our beautiful traditional Japanese Tea Garden bestows an atmosphere perfect for Rakugo and meeting the performers in person.
Eiraku performs Rakugo in English at international organizations such as JICA and foreign embassies and at educational institutions at all levels from elementary schools to colleges. He believes Rakugo is quite beneficial in life and English Rakugo will help people acquire English language, develop a sense of humor, and improve presentation skills.
