Andrew Pielage has photographed 177 Frank Lloyd Wright sites. So when he brought his camera to the Japanese Friendship Garden, a mile from his house, he recognized everything, and then realized he had it backwards. The design ideas he first loved in Wright's buildings are far older than Wright, and they trace back to the same traditions that shaped this Garden.
