We are deeply saddened to announce that our garden founder Masako Takiguchi passed away.
She was the Okaasan, the mother of the Garden for all of us. Masako san was a champion of the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix for more than 30 years. She was a civic leader who contributed her time on many different communities such as Arizona Matsuri, Phoenix Sister Cities, Himeji Committee, the Japanese American Citizens League, as well as many different City of Phoenix Commissions.
She devoted her life to promote the Japanese culture and friendship for people between America and Japan. She will be in our hearts, thoughts and in the garden. Thank you Masako san. We love you very much.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Masako Takiguchi be made to Japanese Friendship Garden to complete the Viewing Pavilion that Masako wished and supported for many years.
