About the Event
The Martial Art of Aikido provides benefits beyond just self defense. We will offer various exercises drawn from the attack and defense postures as well as movement patterns to help participants in their physical fitness.
We will be using the Aikido staff (Jo) to help in stretching and balance exercises for increased flexibility and strength. Participants will have the opportunity to develop a mind/body awareness that can lead to a greater sense of well-being.
These exercises help in maintaining balance, improve mind & body awareness, and encourage correct breathing among other benefits. You will also have the chance to explore meditation techniques that reduce stress and enhance overall calmness.
A wooden staff (Jo) will be supplied by Arizona Aikido for participants. Casual outdoor clothing is recommended and footwear that won’t slip off easily.
Instructor: Tom Haines, Chief Instructor of Arizona Aikido
Tom-sensei is also available for private lessons. He can conduct classes in multiple types of settings including private residences, schools, and other public venues.
